Success is Boring

Are you Boring?

Have you noticed something in recent years?

It’s always been there – but now it seems like it has been turned up several notches.

I am talking about… “Over the top” “Sensational” and “Hyped Up” news.

Sadly… it could be bad news.

It could be good news.

Or… it could be how some celebrities… get attention for themselves… queue… Kim Kardashian.

I am not going to go that deep here. (or that wide… for that matter.)

We’ll only touch the surface and then we’ll get to the main point.

I (and I know I am right) think the more “over-the-top” stuff is out there because it is a little harder these days to get attention.

In the media world… the big dogs… TV Networks, Major News Outlets… these guys all have declining businesses (for the most part).

And those not-so-well-known blogs and news sites out there… well… most of these are even worse off from a business standpoint. They run in the red big time!

Everyone in the media needs eye-balls and page views. And they’ll do whatever it takes to get your attention.

It’s good that you know that. You can defend yourself.

And… for your own business… You need to get attention.

You can’t be boring. (Not saying you need to go out there and show your “base” and not your “treble.”)

You need to get some attention. No doubt.

But there is a time to be boring.

Because… celebs aside… sensational news aside.

Truth is…

“Success is Boring.”  Yes… you can quote me on that one.

Success is about doing the same things all the time.

Sure… you constantly get better… but you’re so good at what you do… it’s almost boring.

Success in business is about staying focused and striving for (but never arriving at) perfection.

Sure… it’s fun to you… but for anyone outside of your business it would be boring.

So go out there and get attention… (don’t be boring). But then… be boring as you do what you need to do every day to reach your business goals.
