Citations

In the local search marketing game, you can’t go too far without hearing the term…

“Citations.”

Fact is… Citations counted for most of the impact on rankings in Google’s early formula for determining which websites to show for which keywords.

Over the years, many other factors have been added, BUT Citations are still a big deal.

Google co-founders, Brin and Page, noticed how popular college professors were the ones who had their work “cited” the most by other professors.

Other professors would “point back” at these professors for their expertise.

Hence… the importance of “back-links” was born.

When it comes to local SEO, Citations come in the form of your business name, website, phone number, and more being listed in “high-page rank directories.”

There are a bunch of these directories out there and they can be a little confusing.

One of the pieces of info we can pull with our Local SEO Report is a snap-shot of your directories.
