When Your Small Business Does Not Need Social Media
It’s true you can live w/out social media marketing if…
I happened across an interesting read yesterday.
It was about a 200mill per year company that didn’t bother with social media at all.
Funny… because there are most-likely 1000’s of successful companies who don’t bother with social media.
While the goal of the article was a little “exaggeration” to get your attention – there were some good points worth passing on.
One… For now this company does not really see where social media will benefit them.
So they are “choosing” not to play the game.
Smart. Fair enough. Good idea.
Because they know…
Any effort in social media needs to be done right.
Time, effort and resources will be used to do it right.
And for now… they don’t want to deploy any resources toward it.
What most readers will miss.
- Yes… it takes resources. And as a small business you can’t go into social media assuming it won’t take much time, effort or money. In short… the law of the universe says… “You have to put something in before you can get something out.”
- This company is a “Business to Business” company. They sell to wholesalers. And they just don’t see their end customer on social media.
- They did mention how important their website is to their business. And how their website is strategically used in marketing.
In summery…
It’s true… Social Media is not for everyone one.
You don’t “have to” be there.
If you’re gonna go there – be ready to put in the effort.
If you have a “consumer business” Facebook is a must.
Until Next Time,
