Slow Quick Fast and Gradual

These are the words to describe the pace of change on the internet.

And more importantly how these changes affect us… the movers and shakers… the small business owners.

A few highlights…

Social Media.

As I have been saying for two years now.. Twitter is flat. Almost to the point of heading toward death.

Twitter has 65 million monthly active users in the U.S. and 320 million globally.

Essentially flat year over year. 0 growth.

Periscope… Twitter’s live video product just got clipped by Facebook’s live stream feature.

Facebook has 1.65 billion active users.

BUT… Facebook’s attempt to make your primary tool for communicating with businesses Facebook Messenger will happen slowly at best. It will certainly be met with stiff resistance.

Mobile… Smartphones officially have their grip on humanity and there is no getting away. The pill has been swallowed. Hours per day. Apps, email, social and web browsing to conduct research is all happening on mobile and is not slowing down.

We are seeing more open-mindedness to the idea of developing a mobile for your business.

Not all minds are open. Some are “concrete.” “The Concrete Mind: All mixed up and permanently set.” Zig Ziglar

Moving on…

Over the last few years… we have tracked clients’ web traffic in certain industries coming from smartphones as high as 55% percent in a given month. That means 55% of total visitors came from smartphones.

On the web I still see some business owners kicking and screaming about being in denial about the real and true need to redesign their own company websites.

This is your home. You own it! Your company website creates first impressions on so many levels. Consumers are savvy.
