I am allowing my girls to stay up late.

To them – “Late” is 8:30 or 9PM.

Normally bed time is around 7:30.

We”ll play some games and then I’ll let them watch a few shows on the Disney Channel.

Rissa and Julia snuggle up on the couch and really do enjoy watching their “shows.”

One of the shows they have been watching is…

“Dog with a Blog.”

When they first told me about the show I said… “Huh, did you say Dog with a blog?”

Here’s the premise of the show…

Avery Jennings and Tyler James are step-siblings from Pasadena who hate each other but come together in the pilot episode. The family faces an even bigger adjustment when they discover that their new dog, Stan, can talk and also has a blog, unbeknownst to the family.

Only Avery, Chloe, and Tyler know he can talk. Stan uses his blog to discuss the happenings in the Jennings-James household. Avery and Tyler later learn of Stan’s talking ability and agree to keep it a secret from their parents. If the family finds out that Stan can talk, they will take him back to the animal shelter

It’s funny to see the dog typing away on his laptop.

But the show made me think.

There are a few simple lessons here…If a dog can have a blog – how come so many folks in business still refuse to understand blogging?

For some reason many still think blogging is some guy or girl (or dog) sitting in the basement wearing pajamas pounding a way at the keyboard daily.Blogging is really not about that.

Sure, there are some “bloggers” out there, but to have a blog for your business you don’t have to be a “blogger.”

Take a lesson from Stan…

He uses his blog to discuss the happenings of the household.

Your blog is just a mechanism for discussing the happening of your business.

It’s meant to get some information out there to please prospects and search engines.

Done, right you can even get some engagement and “Social Media Juice.”

It takes a little discipline.

You have to make it part of your schedule or get some help to keep it updated.

And as I have said before – you have to make sure your blog is set up properly. If it is set up wrong it will not help you very much.

I have something for you…

For fun – I have decided to give away the electronic version of one of my books.

There’s a whole chapter in the book on blogs.

You can get it in PDF form.

The paperback version has a cover price of a 19.95.

But you can get this one complimentary just for being my blogging buddy. “Woof!”

The book?

“Cyberspace To Your Place, Internet Marketing Secrets for Your Small Business and Professional Practice.”
