What small business owners need to know about new domain extensions

“What’s up with these new dot whatever domains?”

A few clients and other business owners have asked me…

“Mike, what’s the deal with these .guru .build .plumber .pizza .menu and dot whatever domains?”

The answer…

They are still very new.

I would say… new enough to where you may want to hang back.

Fact is…

We do a lot of redesign work.

That’s when we take an existing website and give it an awesome “makeover.” (Even Better than Jenny Jones).

We bring it up to speed.

But I always recommend using the existing domain.

It does not make sense to launch the new site on a new domain just to use one of these new domain extensions.

For many reasons…. The most important being… Google likes a domain that has been around for a while.

So if you are thinking about one of these fancy domains here’s an idea…

Grab one or two if you want to hold them.

Perhaps using them as landing pages for Google Ads or Facebook Ads or other specials.

If you are going to redo your existing site use your current domain.
