HTTPS Change

Google’s Next BIG Change.

This is something I talked about a while back.

But now it has a definite date of implementation from Google.

And that’s…

The move toward… https… the “s” standing for “secure.”

I won’t bore you with the details.

BUT… pull up most websites and you will see… http.

NOW… this does not mean… you are at risk.

It just means the https adds another layer of security that makes the website harder to hack.

The worst case scenario is the reality you could be thinking you’re on one website – but really be on one meant to steal your data. (even though you can’t see it).

So… Google … in January of 2017… will begin to call out and/or “shame” sites not using https.

This is something we’ll be moving toward for our clients.

And… Like Google’s last big change in the spring on 2015… when they began shamming sites that looked bad on smartphones… it might be a good time for a rebuild.
