George Zimmer Fired from Mens Wearhouse Personality Marketing Lessons
This got me thinking…
Not sure if you heard…
George Zimmer was fired from Men’s Wearhouse, the company he founded.
Many of us know Zimmer as the deep voice who told us…
“You’re gonna like the way you look, I guarantee it.”
I remember buying my first couple of suits from the Philly store in my early twenties.
He still owns a 3.5% stake in the company.
Why was he fired? I have no idea.
The thinking…
Why don’t more of us leverage the power of “personality marketing?”
It worked for Steve Jobs, Harland Sanders, Dave Thomas and so many others.
OH – and you should pay attention to Paypal Co-Founder and current CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk.
I recently heard “Zuck” was busy responding to Facebook User comments during a recent conversation.
Do you think there’s an certain expectation of “connection” and “being available” no matter how “high up the ladder” someone is?
I do.
Especially now with online video consumption numbers sky-rocketing.
Think about Twitter-owned Vine and now Instagram’s new video feature.
It is no surprise that the Facebook owned, Instagram chose fifteen seconds as the time-limit.
Some TV ads are fifteen seconds! I’m sure we’ll see some fifteen second “sponsored vids” real soon.
It’s time to think about how you can become the “face” and “voice” of your business.
This voice can be in written, audio and video form.
For many years I have done it around here.
Personally, I think it’s time to add more video to the mix.
But no matter which media you choose – test out the power of Personality Marketing.
Enjoy your week!
